KK is just a town - a hub to get things done. There is nothing particularly remarkable about it. Well, that's not true - the night market is excellent. It is, however, a great place to stage other activities from. The mountain bearing a similar name brought me to the town. I'd built in a … Continue reading Kota Kinabalu, Borneo; May 2017

Niah National Park, Boreno; May 2017
Niah is a national park centred around the huge Niah Cave which has anthropological significance. There is a lot (relatively speaking) of rainforest surrounding the cave, but I didn't have time to explore that and was focussed on the cave including its burial sites and paintings. I had to repeat steps of my previous journey, but … Continue reading Niah National Park, Boreno; May 2017
Scafell Pike & Eskdale, Lake District; March 2017
Day 1 - Corridor Route of Scafell Pike to Eskdale My friend invited me along to a hike with his colleagues from work last weekend and since I had planned to go away hiking somewhere it seemed like a great opportunity. We had a really early start to get up to the trailhead and I … Continue reading Scafell Pike & Eskdale, Lake District; March 2017
Black Sheep Brewery & Middleham Brewery, Yorkshire Dales; November 2016
My friend from university organised a trip to the Dales to stay in a cottage around a trip to the Black Sheep Brewery which is in Masham (Mas-Ham) a pleasant market town with many avenues to add to your waistline! I was a little anxious about the beer as my tastes have moved on since … Continue reading Black Sheep Brewery & Middleham Brewery, Yorkshire Dales; November 2016
Ancient Delphi, Greece; October 2016
Apparently Zeus worked out that Delphi was the centre of the world by setting off two eagles from the extremities of his domain and seeing where they met. Seems flawless to me and I assume those cars we all think Google are photographing streets are actual perpetually colliding to map the world accurately. Delphi's provenance aside … Continue reading Ancient Delphi, Greece; October 2016
Nepal: On The Trail 1 – Annapurna Circuit Trek (pI)
These are some photos from my trek around the Annapurna Circuit Trek in May of this year.
Kanazawa, Japan
An old town near the coast with a heritage of Gold, Geishas and Samurai. Another place for wandering through streets, getting lost in parks and graveyards; being lost without purpose and not worrying what a guidebook tells you to be doing.
Norikura-Dake & Around, Japanese Alps.
A great few days here walking and climbing. The hiking season was still a little way off as they get a lot of snow here. So it was ice axe and crampons and cutting steps which is very tiring, but it was worth getting onto one of the Norikura peaks for some great views. The … Continue reading Norikura-Dake & Around, Japanese Alps.
Matsumoto Castle, Japan
A few hours on the way to the Alps gave time to visit Matusmoto Castle.
Nagano, Japan
We were lucky enough to have timed a visit to coincide with a festival and the streets were packed with parades and festivities. Later on we repaired to our hostel, got drunk on craft beer and frequented a Izakaya for more food and beer. Good times.
